IDAM MUSCAT BIDS FAREWELL TO H.E. ANIL WADHWA

Idam Muscat, organized a farewell
reception for the Ambassador of India to Oman, H.E. Anil Wadhwa at the
Ananthapuri Restaurant on Monday, September 4. Abdul Gafoor, General Secretary
of Idam Muscat, presided over the function, while Manohar Manikkath, Joint
General Secretary of Idam Muscat, welcomed everyone to the function.
The tenure of H.E. Anil Wadhwa, as the Indian envoy to Oman, which began four
years ago in 2007, has ended, and he is taking up his next responsibility as
Ambassador of India to Thailand. As a result of his relentless initiatives and selfless
efforts to the Indian expatriate community in Oman, he almost immediately after his
posting, became one of the most loved among Indian Ambassadors posted to Oman.

The Embassy of India and the Ambassador himself provided their full support ever
since the inception of Idam Muscat. Since then, Idam Muscat conducted various
events and came up with initiatives under the patronage of H.E. Anil Wadhwa. It
includes the Indo-Oman Folk Festival 2010 along with many other initiatives of
social cause.
“Idam Muscat was always in the forefront of many initiatives during my tenure of
service as Ambassador of India to Oman,” said Anil Wadhwa, speaking to the
gathering. “The prominence of this organization was further imprinted deep into the
society after the relentless efforts of its members resulted in many causes of social
value. Among which I remember, is the effort Idam Muscat put in, to send
Devasenan, who was bedridden following an accident in Oman, back to Kerala.
Devasenan and his family were sent back to Kerala, owing to a collective effort
from Idam Muscat and Embassy of India. And I’m very sure that he and his family
will always remember this organization for the help they provided to them.”
H.E. Anil Wadhwa also gave the gathering a detailed insight into the activities
undertaken by the Embassy under his flagship, including the initiative taken to
underline the minimum wages for the blue collar employees from the Indian
community in Oman, and the welfare of the Indian housemaids working in the
Sultanate.

A.K. Majeed, President of Idam Muscat, presented a memento to H.E. Anil
Wadhwa. The memento was a painting of Murali Nagappuzha, a famous painter
from Kerala, whose exhibition of paintings was conducted at the Embassy of India,
recently.
Shilin P.B., Vice President of Idam Muscat and Sanash Vijayan, Treasurer of Idam
Muscat, also delivered their greetings and best wishes to the Ambassador for his
future endeavors. They also reminisced the support he gave to the organization,
during his tenure. Shaji Kalandiyil, Cultural Secretary of Idam Muscat, proposed thevote of thanks.
